Stargazer Cast Iron was founded in 2015 by housewares designer Peter Huntley. Disenchanted by the lack of quality and accountability in modern overseas manufacturing, Huntley set out to build a product and company that could be held to a higher standard. Convinced people should have access to high-quality, well-designed cast iron at a reasonable price, he designed the first Stargazer skillet in the summer of 2015 after six months, 21 designs, and several prototypes.

Stargazer skillets begin their journey at our US foundry, where domestically sourced, primarily recycled iron is melted at 2,800°F, refined, and poured into sand and clay molds. The raw castings are then individually machined to precise specifications, ensuring optimal weight and thickness. In Allentown, our craftsmen hand-finish each skillet, grinding and smoothing the surface to create the signature Stargazer cooking experience.

After final inspection, each Stargazer skillet is packed in a box made locally and shipped from our Allentown headquarters. Our skillets are 100% non-toxic, made of grey iron, and free from any harmful chemicals or heavy metals. The seasoning blend of canola, grapeseed, and sunflower oils is non-GMO, vegetarian/vegan friendly, and certified kosher.
